Students and families recently gathered after school at Sand Hill-Venable Elementary for a lively Math Festival designed to make learning numbers fun and interactive.

The event invited families into the school to practice math skills together through hands-on games and activities. Stations around the school featured creative challenges such as Skyscrapers, where students practiced counting and number recognition, a matching apple game that helped reinforce early math concepts, and hopscotch-style games that got students moving while solving problems.

Teachers and staff led the activities, encouraging students to think critically, work together and build confidence in their math abilities.

Students rotated through the stations with parents and siblings, laughing, learning and celebrating their progress along the way.

Teachers said the goal was to strengthen math skills while also strengthening the connection between the school and families.

By the end of the evening, the hallways were filled with energy as families left with new ideas for practicing math together beyond the classroom.
