The students organized a Walk-a-Thon to help homeowners in Beacon Village recover/rebuild from Hurricane Helene. This group stays engaged and puts their hands where their hearts are.. in service. Nick Sharkey, Teacher Cadet at Owen High School attended the North Carolina Council for Social Studies with AP US History teacher, Kelly Dunbar. Owen teachers consistently work to enrich student's learning and career pathways. We are a small school, but we have big hearts and big talent and help make big things happen for our students. The conference is an opportunity for strong professional development in social studies teaching which Nick wants to pursue. One day - He'll be presenting !

Owen High PTO is just the best PTO ! Not just the valley, the county, the state- they are the best -period. This is one of the favorite days of teachers in the building, the other is our holiday dinner, also provided by PTO. The thoughtfulness and cheer of our team brings us joy and reminds us that the apples do not fall far from the trees. The sweetness of our students has been cultivated by our valley families. Thank you for our blessings!
