Please feel free to contact me with any concerns, questions, cheers, or difficulties.  I like to keep an open door to everyone and look forward to lots of volunteers!  The students love to have their parents volunteer in the room during the school day, celebrations or have you come for lunch!

Beginning of the year here at Sand Hill Venable

We have a great class and have started forming new friendships and rekindling old ones. Our daily schedule is posted for you to see what we study on a daily basis. Every week we have "Reading response entries" the students should be completing each night Monday-Thursday. They turn these in to me on Friday mornings and I have usually read through them by Monday morning so that they can have them back for the week. We also have Math most every night except Friday nights. Please have conversations with your student about their Math and responses to Reading so they can understand and apply what they are learning. The students can work on the program Achieve 3000 to help with reading comprehension and fluency anytime from home. There is a fun article of interest on the weekends which is to encourage "reading for fun" that I hope your students will utilize. A sheet advising you of their username and password was sent in their Friday folders today. Our class economy is off to a great start. The students are very mindful of receiving credits for their jobs and appropriate behaviors. Debits for inappropriate behaviors have a great impact on getting us back on track. Our PBIS expectations are also important to our daily success here at the school. Ask your student what "jets up!" means to them. Please feel free to contact me by email, telephone or written notes. I will try to get back with you as quickly and timely as possible. I love teaching and working with your children every day.
