Baertschi, Jacklyn

Welcome to my webpage!  I'm Jackie Baertschi, and I am the School Counselor for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade students.  I strongly believe in a holistic approach to counseling, collaborating with students, parents, school staff, and the community to best advocate for each individual child.

As a school counselor, I advocate students for students in regards to academics, personal and social development, and career and future planning.  I strive to serve every student from an individualized approach, utilizing strategies to help each succeed to their greatest potential both in and out of school.  I teach social-skills lessons to all 2nd-4th grade students in a classroom setting, as well as meet with students individually and in small group settings.  I strive to collaborate with families to help serve children both at school and at home, and I encourage you to contact me if you have any concerns or questions regarding your child.

About Me:

I received my Masters in School Counseling in 2012 from University of Wisconsin-Stout and relocated to Asheville in 2015.  I have been working in inner-city and rural schools since 2007 in a variety of areas in addition to counseling, including substitute teaching, school psychology research, addiction counseling, and outdoor adventure/environmental education.

In my free time, I love yoga, solo travel, hiking, running, cooking, and going on adventures with my American Bulldog mix, Amelia.  I am very passionate about volunteering with river and environmental conservation in our beautiful region, as well as yoga and mindfulness for stress relief, and seek to integrate these into my work students at SHV as much as possible.  I am also learning Spanish to greater serve our students and families in Buncombe County.
