Meet the Teacher
Welcome to Mrs. Ward's Class!
Ginnie Ward
Hello Parents!  My name is Ginnie Ward, and I joined the Sand Hill-Venable Elementary School staff in 2015 as an Intensive Intervention Teacher, and I moved into a Resource classroom in 2016.
I graduated from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill with a Psychology, B.S., and continued with a Graduate Certification of Teaching- Special Education from University of North Carolina- Charlotte.  I have been working with Exceptional Children since 2007, and I thoroughly love this work!
I began working with an E.C. population as a therapeutic riding assistant at Mountin' Hopes in Mars Hill, N.C.  I have subsequently worked with the Autism Society of North Carolina and Easter Seals, UCP, helping children learn daily living skills, appropriate behaviors and social skills, and extracurricular academics.  I have worked in Buncombe County Schools since 2011.
In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, camping, fishing, canoeing- pretty much any excuse to get outside!  I also enjoy reading- anything and everything- and spending time with my husband and a slew of animals.
Buncombe County Schools is in the process of reviewing its website to ensure compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
