News & Homework


Math- We are learning more strategies and practicing more multiplication combinations/facts. 
Reading- We are practicing main idea/details in all types of reading genres.
Writing- We are writing our personal narratives.
Social Studies- We begin our introduction to North Carolina as a state. Every day we are running our classroom economy. For greater detail about how I set this up and how it works in my class, please visit
Science- We will study the cause of day and night and also phases of the moon when we switch over from learning Social Studies.
Students have the following homework Monday through Thursday night:
1. They should read for 30 minutes and a write a reading response with comments and questions about what they
    read to turn in to me the next day.
2. Math is usually a page from their school math workbook; it will be in their homework folder.
3. They must study their spelling word sort that is in an envelope stapled into their homework folder.
And of course, they should get a good night's rest, eat breakfast, and bring a water bottle and snack every day.
*The only homework for the weekend is to bring back their weekly report/newsletter in the Friday Folder, signed on Monday morning.
