Meet the Teacher
Cynthia "Cindy" Srijayanta

I began my teaching career in 1999 with Asheville City Schools. I taught second grade for many years and then became a literacy coach for Asheville City Schools. As a literacy coach, I had the opportunity to work with grades Kindergarten through fifth grade. I discovered that I loved teaching students to read, but wanted to be more connected with students and families. That discovery led me to Sand Hill-Venable Elementary, where I began as a Title I reading teacher in 2013. I completed my Maters Degree in Elementary Curriculum and Instruction in 2013. I also hold a K-12 Reading Certification.

I am blessed to have two sons, one of which attends Sand Hill-Venable. It is a wonderful experience to teach in the school that is in your neighborhood and where your child attends. I am truly invested in Sand Hill-Venable and all of the amazing students I get the opportunity to serve. My true passion in life is teaching students how to read and to help them develop a love for reading.
