Homework

Your child will have homework Monday-Thursday evenings.  Because reading every night is so vitally important, this will be your child's main homework activity.  They will read and briefly respond to the reading in their notebook.  Then, you and your child will initial verifying that the reading was completed.

Trading Coins In class, we are learning about coin values and

equivalencies. Together, examine coins and ask your child to tell you

about each one. Discuss how much each coin is worth in pennies

(1 nickel is worth 5 pennies, 1 dime is worth 10 pennies). Talk about

equivalencies.

“Here are two dimes. How much is this worth? Can you find

another way to make 20¢?” “Let’s trade coins. I’ll give you

2 nickels for 1 dime.”
