Important Information for Mrs. Hughes' Class
Welcome to fourth grade! I am very excited to have your child in my classroom this year! We will work hard, and have a lot of fun learning. You can help your child by reviewing the information below. Please always feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have. It’s going to be a great year!
Our class will have a classroom economy this year. This means each student will have a classroom job, and they will get paid with classroom money for that job. They will have to pay rent for their desk every month. There will be a classroom store that they will be able to purchase things from. Having a classroom economy will help us cover many of our curriculum goals for Social Studies and Math. It is a way to do this in a real world situation. All consequences for good and poor behavior will be related to our economy. Good behavior will be rewarded with credits to the student’s bank accounts while poor behavior will have the consequence of a debit from the student’s bank accounts.
Every Friday I will send home a weekly folder. This folder will contain some work that your child will have done. It will also have a conduct sheet that will need to be signed and returned on Monday.
Homework will be assigned every night except for Fridays. Student’s will read for 30 minutes every night and write a response about what they read. They will also either have nightly math or nightly writing. If your child has any problem with their homework please send me a note the next day letting me know, so I can address the problem right away. While homework will not be graded for accuracy it will be graded for effort.
